I left it with the water for about 10 hours and then tried and it worked! Guess some deposit that was blocking the passage just got dissolved. The dark stuff in the pipe inside the water chamber is some kind of a filter. When you press the tiny ball (purposely misspelt it as I get "naughty language" message!) on the dark cap of the water chamber and you see water seeps out gently means thare is no blockage.
