I had severe problems with the PC-link software, until I underclocked my Athlon XP2000 (1.67Ghz) CPU to around 500Mhz. Then it worked fine. If you have a modern (aka "too fast") PC, try that. I was able to adjust my multiplier lower in my BIOS settings, because I have an "unlocked" AMD CPU. Intel CPU owners with locked multiplier settings may not be so lucky. Try to find an older, slower computer to run the link software on.
